The Allure of Dean Harper is a full-length standalone romance with overlapping characters from The Allure of Julian Lefray. Both books can be read separately. Chronologically, The Allure of Julian Lefray happens first. 

The Allure Of Julian Lefray is the only book by R.S. Grey that i love so much so I have a high expectation on the The Allure of Dean Harper. Unfortunately, it didnt manage to exceed my expectations.

I actually enjoyed 65% of it. (lol somehow that percentage is so irrelevant) Its funny and light and SO FULL OF FOOD THAT I WAS STARVING THE WHOLE TIME I READ THIS BOOK. Damn you and your fictional food, Grey.

I have some issues with Lily though. I understand that she is this one stubborn and strong girl that nothing can intimidate her. I get that demeanor, I do. But honest to God its too much. Shes too stubborn that its rude and annoying. She crossed the 'stubborn and strong hearted but insanely cool heroin' line. Shes overdone it that it doesnt look cool anymore. Whats worse is that for me, she radiates negative vibes with her. There are some scenes/parts in the book where she went overboard and outrightly rude. ITS INFURIATING OK. 

Also, i'm sorry but i cant really sense the chemistry between Dean and Lily. Sometimes theyre okay but sometimes its a bit.... off? Idk. maybe its just me. There are some Dean-Lily scenes that make me want to hit her head with a brIck and knock some sense into her. Seriously, what is she playing at?

This book is slightly above average for me. I mean, the book is cool, but its not THAT extraordinary, you know ? It doesn't stand out that much from every other books of its kind. Robyn's wit and humour really works though bcs I caught myself laughing a few times. AND THERE ARE A FREAKING LOT OF HARRY POTTER'S REFERENCES!!!!! My Potterhead heart is happy. oh and there are a lot of tv shows/movies/musics and Games of Thrones references too. 

Lane and Sadie's adventures are exciting but somehow..... I couldnt seem to connect with them. Their romance doesnt get my heart goes all fluttering either. It doesn't deliver that much spark in my opinion. But this is probably just me since everyone else seems to be okay with it.

The ending didnt broke me too. I guess depression/illness themed books really arent meant for me. Sigh.

I have mixed feeling about this book. its like we're in a love-hate relationship. Everyone mostly gave this a rating of 4/4.5/5 but here I am with a 3 stars rating. There are times where I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed Finch and Violet's conversation, thoughts and adventure. Other times though, i was totally clueless. Okay, i was mostly clueless actually.

So, Finch. Honestly, I dont get him. I dont know what his problem is with sleeps and why he did all those things he did. I dont get the deal between him and his father. I dont get him AT ALL. I need explanation.

I dont know what is wrong with me, but I didnt cry. Not a single shed of tears. The emotion is there but it was very fleeting that I almost did not realize it was there. i think its been a long time since I cried over fictional characters. I guess I need to get myself fix.

You know how deep inside you whether you realize it or not, you have that black slug that pretty much eats up your happiness even the slightest bit, that makes you think negatively about things even when your supposed to just enjoy the moment and be happy ? And how you tend to push everyone away when your drowning in sadness and depression thinking that you want to be left alone and you dont want others to be infected with your sadness ? And sometimes when bad things happened even if its not entirely your fault, you keep on blaming urself on and on ? And sometimes you wish you could die than having to face any of this but you dont exactly have the courage to do just that ? 

This is basically what this book is all about. Its about depression and suicidal thoughts. Pretty much a common issue nowadays in teenagers. It helps you think to appreciate life more, which i think is the huge main idea of this book. Jasmine Warga delivers this part quite well.

I would say this book is quite something, it IS something. Its very emotional but somehow i kinda felt like something important is missing. I'm not exactly sure what is it thats missing (I have some idea but having to say it here would probably mean giving you guys a spoiler so I wont) 

I keep on getting reminded of Jojo Moyes' Me Before You while reading this because it has the exact same idea. Only thing is that this happened to 17years old kids instead of 30ish. I found myself enjoying this book at some points but like I said it has a few things missing that made this book a little less meaningful, but its still okay enough. I would love to read more insights on Aysel's friends and family though. Like what do they think of her personally and stuffs but I dont get that so yeah im a lil bit disappointed about it. 

But this book has insanely lots of good quotes about depression and stuffs so thats a huge total bonus ! I'm having a hard time choosing which quote to put down here lol. 

“Anyone who has actually been that sad can tell you that there's nothing beautiful or literary or mysterious about depression.” 

One of the things that I love about this book is that the author keeps on saying how depression isnt all that beautiful. You know how these days its so hipsterish of people to write poems about depression and being depressed ? This book opens up my mind how the people who are diagnosed with depression would think, and its bad. Its all dark there that sometimes I feel like I was trapped somewhere with no lights and no where to go. 

I'm quite disappointed with the synopsis/blurb at the back of the book actually. It ruins the surprise for me. Like i would probably like the development (?) of the story if I didnt read the blurb earlier (so a warning to you : do not read the blurb. just know that this is a book about depression and suicide. That knowledge is good enough) 

I was imagining quite a different ending actually. I was also waiting for that one point, one event or anything that would break me. That would make me cry like a baby. I felt it at first, but it was there just a little while so thats another reason why im giving this a 3. I think i am one of the minority who is not emotionally affected by the book. I felt like I was being let down by this book when actually I shouldnt because it ends okay, but that's just me being complicated af lol.

I can see why people are comparing this to Gone Girl. Its got the same basic storyline—the whole issue of a problematic woman went missing, the husband was suspected etc. But it ends at that. The rest is different. The main reason I pick this up actually is because of the hype its been getting, the whole is-this-the-next-Gone-Girl considering they have the same genre, psychological thriller. Gone Girl is amazing and the plot twist just got me right in the head. Which, I was expecting the same to happen with The Girl on the Train. Unfortunately, not so much.

I have to admit that I’m not an expert on this genre. However, I’ve read a lot of Sidney Sheldon’s books to appreciate thrillers and mindfucked plot twists.

This book is narrated in the first person POV which alternates between 3 characters namely Rachel, Megan and Anna with Rachel being the biggest part of the story. All 3 women are related in some ways.  Each person has a story to tell, and has secrets to be kept hidden. It all revolves between the lives of 5 people; Rachel, Anna, Megan, Tom (Rach’s ex husband, Anna’s current husband) and Scott (Megan’s husband).

I hate all the characters. There, I’ve said it. I truly hate all the characters in this book. This is a book where you just cant trust anybody. And that’s how I felt about everyone in this book. Nobody can be trusted. Nobody has the purest heart. Nobody is kind enough to at least be respected. Everyone is just, so…. suspicious ??? To make it worse, Rachel and Megan’s behaviors are both so irritating that there were times where I just want to close this book and be done with it.

The Girl on the Train is said to be full of suspense, dark and mysterious. Amazingly enough, the book did give me some creeps, but I am a scaredy-cat by nature so that doesn’t really count lol. It’s not entirely full of suspense though as the whole book is quite slow-paced. There are some surprising and thrilling scenes, but most of the time it is too slow that I had to force myself to finish it. It is, however, very depressing. Right from the start till the end.  It was all so dark, brooding and tiring.

Thrillers are famous for their plot twist and mindfucked ending. As for this book, the ending is surprising, you can almost say “I didn’t see that coming”. The way everything was revealed  though, didn’t satisfy me enough. A ‘scene’ happened along the way—which I have to say, if it were made movie, this ‘scene’ is gonna be thrilling. I can almost imagine it in my head.

The book over all for me, isn’t ‘’un-put-down-able” as some would say. But its okay enough. The ride isn’t entirely enjoyable, but I survived.

Would I recommend it ?

If youre into thrillers and fucked-up characters then this might be it for you.

So, Beautiful Secret.

Niall Stella and Ruby Millers.

The anticipation was real ok. 

When i was first introduced to Niall in Beautiful Beloved, i was ecstatic ! Like I just knew, hes going to be as amazing as Bennet, Max and Will. And he is !

But i have to be honest tho. This isnt the best from Christina Lauren and im slightly disappointed because i love their books so much. Theres a lot of things in this book that got me went all, 'eh ????' This book is just so different from the rest of the series i have to say. One being that Niall is a closed-off, reserved kind of guy -- so different from the whole Bennett, Max and Will attitude. The other is Ruby. 

I dont like Ruby as much as i love Hanna, Sara and Chloe. I lost my respect to her since the beginning of the book. There's sth about her -- that i cant put into words -- that annoys me. Yeah, shes intelligent and funny and whatever but shes just so..... gosh ive been trying so hard for 2 days to find a suitable word to describe Ruby but i just couldnt find it. I'm sorry but i guess i give up. /sigh/ 

One of the reason why im giving this a low rating compared to their other books is that, I couldnt imagine the whole plot in my head. Like when I was reading the other Beautiful series, i could see where they are all headed. I can even imagine myself on those situations. But with Beautiful Secret ? I just cant. I cant imagine the big picture in my head. I dont even know whats wrong with me. (I'm blaming this on me because everyone else seems to love it but me) ((Theres this one Christina Lauren fan -- the Debookroom owner, to be specific -- she doesnt like Ruby either, so im not the only one with the problem here))

Its sad actually to give this book a rating of 3 (believe me its tough because it's christina lauren we're talking about here) but since i don't fully enjoy it as much as i hoped it would be, I think its well deserved.

p.s. I JUST COULDNT WAIT FOR DARK WILD NIGHT !!! LOLA AND OLIVER ??? IM ALL SET !

I think its safe to say that i like the second book more than the first one in the series.

Its not that i didnt enjoy it at all. I did, but i cant help to think that its a bit draggy and irritating at some points. Maybe because I was in a rush while reading this since i was going back and forth over this book and my biology book (biology exams coming in two days thats why)

The book was highly enjoyable at first (the rest was still enjoyable but not as much as the first few chapters) and i have a lot of respect towards Lady Xenobia considering shes witty and intelligent. Even Thorn was charming. But something happened within the pages and i got irritated. Their sexual sexcapades annoyed me, specifically. 

On the bright side, I really really really love it when Rose came in. The whole Thorn and Rose thing melts my heart. Guys with kids is a major turn-on, i swear (Reminds me of Drew from Emma Chase's Tangled and his awesome niece awwww)

I think this is just another 'its-not-you-its-me' situation, you know ? Like if I were to read this at a different time and different situation, maybe i would like it better than i did now. 
Who knows?

I have a mixed feelings about this.

Everything was perfect, up until Chapter 28. After that ? Not so much. 

Andrew and Camryn is a great duo. They make an awesome road trip partner. Their witty banters are so really good I'm impressed.

Somehow I have this one tiny voice in the back of my head saying 'No, this cant be it. Andrew is a little bit too perfect for his own good'. I mean, hes nice, considerate, funny, witty, charming, gorgeous, thoughtful, protective, he throws a good punch, he sings, he plays guitars, hes good in bed and the list goes on. LOL SERIOUSLY?! Thats too much even for a fictional character. It doesnt even make sense ! 

The first 28 chapters are really good. I have to give it a credit because I really enjoy it. I giggled, I squealed and I smiled at their banters and their thoughts so its good. The POV from both Andrew and Camryn works well in this book because it gave me the insight of what Andrew think. (i'm biased to Andrew, like normal girls would do hehe)

When I discovered that this book revolves around Andrew and Camryn's road trip, I was ecstatic. I LOVE ROAD TRIPS SO MUCH. But sadly enough, this one doesn't satisfy me. Dont take it wrong. Its good, but i've read better. And the better one has set the bar too high so its pretty tough to compete. 

What really pissed me off is that starting from chapter 29 onwards, EVERYTHING IS TOO FREAKING CHEESY I CANT EVEN STAND IT. I MEAN IT. EVERYTHING. Too much 'baby' in one page sometimes. Its just, urgh. I cant stand cheesy and sappy lines, honest to God. I can just puke. AND WORSE, THEIR BANTERS DECREASES OKAY. THE BEST PART IN THIS BOOK WAS DECREASED TO MAKE WAY FOR THOSE CHEESY LOVE LINES. WHAT EVEN ?!

The ending, if it isnt for the excessive cheesy lines and endearment words, would be good and unexpected for me. The book, as in overall too, would get a full on 5 stars from me. But the cheesy love lines, excessive usage of endearment terms, too-perfect Andrew and the slowly decreasing witty banters ruin it for me. Sorry, Redmerski.

I know its got a sequel, The Edge of Always if I'm not mistaken. But I think I'm going to leave it at that. The ending for The Edge of Never is satisfying enough, there shouldn't even be a book two in the first place, in my opinion.

A fun and light read. I enjoyed it most of the time. The witty banters are awesome, hands down. Definitely love that. Watching Ella's family interaction grows within the pages warms my heart. The only thing that didnt work out for me is that CINDER IS TOO FREAKING CHEESY I CANT HELP BUT CRINGE UNTIL MY FACE HURTS. oh and there are some parts which i think are a bit illogical (?) and annoying.
